Found nearly new 1864 need side panels and guidance

Looks great. The 50” deck is my second favorite. The 54” is my favorite.

Finished refurb for now - adjusted front end play - was 1/4" back and forth, greased everything driveline, axles, checked rear bolts, did hydro adjust etc. Gotta disable the reverse PTO cutout but that's a minor thing as this isn't my main mower, but it cuts great, and has more deck speed than my 1811. Seems to run hotter and not move as much air out the front vs. the 1811.

Next project is a rear cargo carrier for the 1864 to carry my Stihl spray rig and wood etc. Bought a 2" receiver hitch plate to mount to the rear plate and looking at the Harbor Freight unit https://www.harborfreight.com/automo...-69858.htmlbut may require some mods to work.

Anyone else done a similar carrier they can share pics?

I am currently working to rebuild a 54" deck. The rust is there of course, and solid on the underside. I had a product made by Dominion that says it will stop rust and leave a hard clear coating. I tried it out on the underside of this deck and I am very pleased with the result. I knocked all the scale for it with a wire brush in the angle grinder, then just brushed this stuff on.

It dried overnight to a very hard finish - harder than paint.

Kinda pricey, but it goes a long way.

Comes in clear, gray or black. I used clear.

I also bought the HF receiver to use on my 1864 (and now the 2084). I have yet to come up with a good way to mount it. So I just ordered the bolt-on 2" receiver from Extreme. It's not that much more, and it's far better. Plus, it works with the 3-point

Been doing some more minor things - pulled valve covers, - old style flat gaskets were leaking causing buildup the head fins, so have two new covers with o-ring seals on order now.

Pulled side covers off, and air cleaner - no debris in fan area, but under the side covers with leaking valve covers the head fins were blocked up - cleaned about 4 + cups of oil coated debris from back and sides - about 60% blocked. Pushes a lot more air now.

Starting issues - click click then would start - so removed starter switch - corrosion between pins and in plug - cleaned and lubed - no more issues.

After the valve covers its into the rear end and maybe some xTreme braces for the rear axle - but this is just a hauling wood tractor, not working it hard.. So putting $120 more into it is what I am debating now.

Last is the rear 2" receiver hitch and cargo carrier from Harbor Freight - its been out of stock so haven't gotten to that yet.
