1864, starting problem.
Went to start my tractor. No power anywhere, 13.7 volts at the battery. It won't even click. Every now and then I can hear something buzzing and then and then I have power at the starter, turn the switch to start it goes click, and then no power. I even tried to jump it with power from battery positive to the main lug on starter nothing. This starting system has a relay. Any ideas/suggestions will be greatly appreicated.

Check your grounds....Considering that you did a jumper to main lug on starter and it doesn't work, maybe you got a bad ground. If the ground is good, oh jeeshhh... could be starter. Another thing about the buzz you heard could be from loose connections....again check your grounds.

I would agree. Make sure the BOTH battery cables, on both ends, are clean, bright, and tight to their connections.

If you have an extra battery,
Try to see if the starter spin. Then process of elimination from there as mentioned battery cables , Both ends of the cables clean, And bolts that hold the engine to the frame are tight. . |

1864
Finally got around to checking my 1864 no power. Found no 12v to battery spade on the ignition switch. Therefore no 12v at starter exciting spade. Ran jumper from battery pos to battery spade on the switch. Turn the start side of the ignition switch, fired right up. I have no ideas what the original problem was but at least it will start. Thank you, everyone, for your replies :

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
