Cub Cadet Original Tailshaft Leak
My IH Cub Original has a leak near the tailshaft on the reduction gear housing inside, where the driveshaft goes in. Anyone have any ideas what this could be? Maybe an oil seal?

Maybe. Maybe not. My local Napa was able to take part numbers and get me replacement crankshaft oil seals for Kohler K series engines. Not sure if they can do the same with other seals though. It could be a common size, but it could also be an odd size.
Realistically the only way to find out is to remove your leaky one, take it to Napa, and have them search the part numbers on it.

From what I can find searching through cross references, that SKF 7636 seal shown at the link above appears to be correct. Also cross-references to National 481428, which is also the part number stamped on this NOS seal for sale over at ihccw: https://www.ihccw.com/transmissions....roduct_id=1147. I think the National seal is 3/8" wide whereas the SKF is 1/4". I would imagine the SKF would still work so long as you don't drive it in too deep.
As an aside I would also check the shaft to be sure that the old seal hasn't worn a groove into it.

I'd sooner go with a new seal than one that is probably 40+ years old as well.

I was able to get that seal out, and now I'm trying to get the seal for the rear axles out. I can't seem to get it out, tried prying on it and tried the trick with the self tapping screws and that didnt work either. I assume I cant use any penetrating fluid to get it out cause itll prolly go into the rear end, but maybe i'm wrong, anyone have any tips on that?
