Hello From Central Wisconsin
Greetings – I was reminded about this website just last week on another tractor forum that I post on from time to time. I do remember visiting here a couple of years back, but I forgot about this forum. After checking it out again, I decided to join – it looks like there is a lot going on here.
I like all Cub Cadets, but currently have two Cub tractors from the 2000’s. I especially enjoy working out the details on modifications – mostly improvements, with a failure or two along the way. I currently have two Cub tractors: • GT2550 (2008) - I have the performed quite a few mods on this tractor; Front hinged hood, sealed headlamps, switch for headlamps, tail & brake lamps, tachometer, 12”x12”x23” rear tires on GT3000 wheels, Kohler oil fill conversion, tachometer, seat front support and one-touch oil drain. Factory accessories include 50” suspended deck, late style triple bagger, electric sleeve hitch and 42” snow blower (now sold). I have owned this one since new, currently heading towards 800 hours. • GT3235 (2004) - I have the performed a number of mods on this tractor also; sealed headlamps, tachometer, tail, brake & reverse lamps, Kohler oil fill conversion, tachometer, oil temp gauge, 4th hydraulic valve under right fender, 4-lug front spindle conversion and one-touch oil drain. Factory accessories include 48” ground contact deck, mounts for the late style triple bagger, 3-point hitch, front hitch with hydraulic angling, front blade and 45” snow blower. I also have a non-factory Kwik-Way FEL. I am currently putting together a 42” hydraulic tiller for the GT3235 – it’s a bit of a story so I will explain that in another post. I bought this one used with 180 hours, but it was a bit of the project – it was stored outside so I had to deal with a rodent infestation and I ended up repainting almost the entire tractor. I would like to get another tractor when I run out of things to do with these, something that needs a full restoration, as I took up painting a couple of years ago and really enjoy it. However, that will have to wait as I am pretty jammed up right now – I am trying to come up with more room, maybe for next summer. Thanks for having me, cheers! |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
