Well now I'm confused. If you go to the Wix filter lookup it looks like anything built before the 982 uses the 51084 and after the 51410. Both have the same micron and gpm rating but the 51084 has a by-pass, maybe that's a bad thing IDK. I have never used anything but a 51410 and was just stating what another well respected Cub aficionado stated and that is backed up by Wix's site. Did anything change in the pumps or is it the oil that caused the change? I'm pretty sure that either filter would work fine for the 2 gallons of oil they filter.

Wix makes NAPA filters, just drop the first # of the Wix# for the NAPA #.

You can make your self crazy trying to figure out the differences in filters, If the threads, Gaskets & Micron ratings are the same it should work just fine.

The new tier 4 diesels use fuel filters that will not cross, the only place to find them is the Original manufacturer.

The Sundstrand Service Manual states that the filter should not have a by-pass.
I guess the Wix lookup is wrong because the 51084 has a by-pass.

When you go to the Wix Website and you cross reference Part Number 723-3014, it only comes up with one Wix Number, that being 51410.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
