Use a piece of white foam that is wrapped around electronics for packing press the tin piece on it to make an outline then cut out.

thanks! mine only had half a tin piece is that normal? does the tin go over or under the foam piece?

Ok I dont have that. When I get one does the foam go between that and the steering box and the swing plate rubs on that aluminum?

I cut some high density foam to thickness on my table saw then used the metal piece to cut the foam to size. Worked great.

what kind of foam? how thick? wouldnt the packing foam suggestion work? Did you use rtv on the foam or just lay it in?

also separate prob, I dont have the metal piece hoping not to have to get that new. may be better to find a used steering column...

nevermind, found a seal and retainer online for a halfway reasonable, and a wet brake pad as well...

My friend told me about "Corn Head Grease" for the steering box. I looked that up and it sounds pretty amazing, a grease when not in use, but semi-liquid where it is needed when moving.
