LOOKS GREAT!!! Its been fun to watch your progress. Where did you get the hood decals? sorry if you already said. They look great too. Were you happy with them? Do they have any thickness or texture? Do you think the blue is close to oem? Dave

The decal set came from MapleHunter and they have a great product. The Vinyl decals on the side of the hood are thinner than oem and are not textured but are a nice match for color.

The 1572 is home and it is looking and operating like a new tractor. It was nice out this week so the Cubs wanted their pictures taken.

This was a fun project and we got to watch Stan do some great work. His attention to detail is impeccable. Thank you for an outstanding job.

I am working on a history of my 1572, so look for that soon.

This 1572 was bought new in Fayetteville, Tn in the spring of 1987. It was purchased by Hubert Beverly from Athens, Alabama. The day I bought it, May the 2nd 1998, I saw the invoice from when it was new. With a 50C mower deck, it cost 9500.00.

Fast forward to 1998, I was mowing with a 1050. It was so slow to mow with. 2nd gear was so slow and 3rd was too fast. I was use to using my Dad’s 1811. Then I started the hunt for a new mower. The next week or so our local dealer, Paul Badenhop Co, had an ad in our local classified paper. In it was a 1572. I loaded up the 1050 and went there to see what I could get for the 1050. I paid around 1100.00 for the 1050 in 1994 I think. The price of the 1572 was 2750 and I got 1000 for the 1050. Out the door it was 1875.00 with tax(I still have the receipt). I got a lot of receipts from the previous owner. He had done several things to the tractor. Several throttle cables and several steering cylinders. I got a new throttle cable that I got from the purchase and installed it myself. I found it was installed wrong and that is why they kept failing. I live close to a store and did not have to get on the highway to fill it with fuel so on the first day I took it the store for a fill up. I cranked her up and sped up the engine and she stalled. As long as I kept the engine speed low it would run. I got new filters in the deal so I replaced both of those and that cured my problem. It had several electrical gremlins that I have to work through. That is why I think the man traded it. He got tired of taking it to the dealer and getting it fixed. He bought a new 3000 series tractor.

I used the tractor weekly to around, 2011. I started having hard start issues and put several starters on it. I bought a Woods mow’n machine in the fall of 2010 with the intentions of selling the 1572. I did not like that mower and sold it in the spring of 2011. Bought a 1864 and then my Dad gave me his 1863. Then I met Stan last year and he restored the 1572 to showroom condition. That was not my intention at first, but when Stan had it down to the frame for its mechanical restore, I asked him how much for a complete paint. He gave me the quote and so here we are. I would never have the patience to do a large job like that and he did a great job. It will serve my needs for a very long time, when I get the nerve to get it dirty.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
