782 front axel question
I’m curious just picked up a 782, IH built. To me the front axle looks lighter duty than the one on my 1650. Did they change things up with this model? Thanks

782' have a red axle 1650's have a yeller axle.
The early 1650's had 3/4" diameter axle stub the wheel lives on. The later 1650's as well as the 782's had a stronger 1" axle stub. |

The CCC built tractors, had a black front axle. I think they are same as the IH built tractors, except for color.

1650 front axle part number: 759-3270-0637
782 front axle part number: 759-3270-0637 So other than the paint slapped on them, they are the same.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
