Default QA42 snow thrower install tips?

I just wasted an hour in the backyard trying with no luck to get my QA-42 onto my 149 tractor. It's been in storage for about a decade, but I know it fit on there back in 2013.

I can't get the lower bar into quick connect jaws at the same time as the upper forks slide onto the frame studs. I sure did make a mess of my frame's paint job though.

I even tried some 4x4 wood blocks under the blower housing.

Eat your Wheaties, have a handy list of expletives ready........ Some remove the blower unit and driveshaft first. Next, install the frame/gearbox assembly to the chassis. Double check all of your connections and make the quick attach is locked. Reassemble the blower and driveshaft. Tip....replace the set screw in driveshaft when finished. Good luck!

That's a good idea- I didn't think to remove the blower housing first. I need to replace the carriage bolts and hardware that's holding the gear box plate, etc. I'll give that a try when I'm ready to attempt the job again.

Found this operator's-instalation manual in the tech section under implements:
https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/c...wer+Op+Man.pdf

It usually takes me 5-10 minutes to instal snow thrower on my 149.

If we are talking about getting the Blower bracket mounted to the tractor, I found an easy way to do that was to disconnect the springs that support the blower, that allowed me to install the belt support the bracket, pivoting it to install all the bolts. Having the bracket securely fastened to the tractor I could not lift the blower to reattach the springs, then connect the rod to the handle to raise and lower the blower.

Now I have a question: I went to replace the drive belt on my CW 36 snowblower, it is mounted on a 1967 model 72. the belt had a chunk missing so I did not want to risk it breaking in the middle plowing my driveway; it looked like a 28" x 1/4" belt but I figured I would let the pros look up the size; they said I needed a 28 x 3/8 belt, which I bought and attempted to install, it was too small. I exchanged it for a 29 x 3/8; which was too big. I called the pro back and he told me a 28 x 3/8 is the correct belt.... any thought or experiences on this would be much appreciated

The 28 x 3/8 IH-487043-R1 is correct. Do you have a manual to install it?

Have you ever tried 2 mover's dollies, one on each end of the snow thrower. Allows you to easily wheel it up to the front of the cub. If it is too high up, try wedges under the front tires to help adjust it to the right height.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
