Carburetor woes
It seems like every piece of equipment I've been given over the years has sat for a while with old gas in the tank resulting in gummed up carburetors that need either a thorough cleaning or just replacing altogether. While it's usually a cheap fix for something that was free, it's still annoying.
But it doesn't seem to affect every small engine. For example my neighbor never drains the fuel out of any of his equipment and just lets it sit for months on end, yet it fires right up no problem. I read online of similar claims of leaving fuel in small engine equipment and never having an issue. Same for 2 stroke people claim they mix their own fuel (not using the premix canned stuff with stabilizers) and never have any issues it just fires right up every time. What gives? Am I just getting the short end of the stick on equipment I've bought or have been given? Is there some magic to this I'm missing? Does climate have anything to do with these people claims of never draining gas and it fires right up?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
