Hello from Ohio!
Hey all! So brand new here. I picked up a '95 2284 with a 60" deck. I got it for free a month and a half ago. Someone had it on a selling wall and guy said he was moving and didn't want to mess. Said it had a really bad backfire and it was half taken apart. So I tuned it up, new fluids and filters, greased everything, and fixed the hour meter. It had 764.5 hours but noticed it wasn't working. Had a crack in it so I was able to take it apart, clean up some corrosion, and plastic weld it back together and got it working. I've been on this site quite a bit for help. I had really poor reverse and found out someone hooked the linkage up incorrectly. I also fabricated a hitch so I can move my cargo trailer as well as my garden trailer. I don't have the deck on it as I've been using my Craftsman (also got for free) since it's more manageable in my yard. Anyways, thanks for having me!

Thanks all! My Craftsman I got from a friend of mine. It too wasn't working, he stated it didn't have spark and had it taken apart pretty well. Turned out the battery was installed backwards! Ha!
But I really like my Cub, it's a pretty tough tractor for sure. I'd like to pick up a snow blade but I'm having trouble finding one that fit or isn't too expensive. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
