Hi from Pendleton, NY
Looking forward to sharing info about cubs. Have a LT1045, and just picked up (free) a Series 2000 that had a Kohler engine fire. I'm converting that one to all electric.
Can someone add any info as to what model I have? The hood melted, so I can't read the model number, but the stamped nameplate reads: MTD 13A-288-100 384147 Any info will help, although it's getting the engine and accessories removed to make room for an electric motor. TIA! John |

Thank you for the quick reply Roland!
I thought the 2186 data sheet looked like mine. What is the difference between the 2185 and 2186, if I may ask? John |

I am NO expert on this model, but research shows the 2185 was made between 1994 to 1999. The 2186 seems to be similar but updated for 2000 to 2003.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
