Good info to know. TY

You're welcome. Based on your signature, if you look at the 104 you own, it'll just have a serial number on the tag. If you look at your 126, it'll have 2050039U followed by the serial number. The 2050039U is the model of tractor.

I need to change my tag, traded the 104 out for a 100.. Still have and love my 126.. I doubt I would ever sell the 126

Does it have a K241(10hp) or a K301(12hp) in it ?
cubby, I've searched for a data plate on the engine; where exactly should I look to identify?

Or, how can I tell what Kohler engine I have.

The Model/Serial Tag is located on the Engine Shroud (blower housing).

Another source of engine identification can be found behind the starter pulley above the engine crank shaft. The number will be stamped into the engine block. Of course, that would be easy if you did not have to go through the removal of stubborn engine parts. Removing the engine head to measure the piston o.d can also help to determine.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
