Yea he said it's about 4 years old and he stopped mowing with it 2 years ago. I'm just doing the mechanicals now if it makes plow day great if not always next year. I'm also most likely going to sell the deck as i have no use for a 50" deck at home. I may sell the leaf collector if i don't like it in the fall.

I was looking at the steering the gear box has some play i think i might be able to adjust that out. The spindles and wheels bearing and axle pivot are all showing a crap load of wear what the best way to tackle this.

My little 882 was hammered pretty good when I got it. I had to replace the bearings in my cooling fan also. Not that hard of a job but I didn't note what gearings it took. Here is what mine looked like.
DSC03354.jpg DSC03355.jpg DSC03365.jpg My steering column was in bad shape too. Cleaned it up good and put red Loctite on it and hammered the tube back in and never had another problem out of it. DSC03464.jpg DSC03465.jpg You can take the slop out of the box if you pull the cam follower out, put it in a drill press and touch it up with a 4" side grinder. They get a flat spot on them from the wear. You also may want to check with Jeff in PA if you need a new one. Here is what mine looked like before I cleaned it up. DSC03470.jpg How much play is in the drive shaft when you grab it? I'm thinking a worn driveline caused the issue with the pump. Check the rear coupler for wear. Mr. Jeff in PA can fix you up there too. FrankF3 found a replacement for the idler pulley if I can find the post. Keep us posted on your progress and congrats on a great little GT.

You don't need a cast iron rear. Aluminum ones are just as strong. Put a set of braces on it if your so worried it will break. I've not yet broke a AL rear end, and I beat on my machines pretty hard. I just make sure the bolts stay tight. Too much stuff has to be changed to put a CI in a diesel it's not even worth it. Keep the aluminum.

Thanks everyone. I managed to get this little beast going in the cold this morning so i could pull my cart around just to see if there are any issues and one showed it head about 15 mins into running. Runs fine then all the sudden it cuts out like i just shut the fuel off but if i let it set a minuet it will fire right but up and do so for another couple mins and do the same thing again. I am going to clean the tank and replace the rubber line i read these are 2 common issues ordering kubota filters tonight.

My steering shaft has a big dent in it i think the front of the driveshaft let loose at one point i'll address that last or as money permits as the play in it is minimal. I am going to function first then next year i'll make her look pretty again. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
