There must be something very satisfying about vacuuming up leaves with an 1864--it shows in your smile. It's nice when you have good equipment that does what it's designed to do.

Thanks for sharing the pics--the setup looks great.

Even if you don't have an 1864, there'll be a smile on your face while vacuuming, vs raking!

Default New implement...

Yes, it is very satisfying to use my 1864 (that was carefully restored and works like new) to do those jobs like mowing, hauling and sucking up leaves! I'm looking forward to going out tomorrow to do another "leaf session" before it rains again.

I have not experienced any clogging of the blower hose yet. I have a set of hi-lift blades on the 54" deck that I keep very sharp. I generally mow over the lawn (only when dry) at a slower rate when picking up leaves, compared to normal mowing speed. Hoping I don't have to suck up any wet leaves...that will surely clog the hose...

Cool setup.
That's what I was thinking. Nice paint touch ups/mods too.

Default New implement...

Yep! The restoration on the 1864 was finished last May. It is "cherry" and a pleasure to use! Good as new...if not better than new with all the time I put into it!. The leaf vac is practically new...only used 2 or 3 times. Sucking up the grass and leaves was a pleasure this year!

Here is a list of my equipment: 1864 - 54" deck, CC Mow 'n Vac; 1641 - 44" deck, 42" blade; 1641 - 45" blower, lawn roller; 1450 - 44" deck; JD 110 - 38" deck, 37" blower, 31 tiller, snow cab w/lots of LED lights, JD 10 cu ft cart, lawn sweeper; JD 4100 CUT - 410 loader, 60" deck, 4' tiller, 5' box scraper, 47" snow thrower, 54" blade, 25 gal. 3 point tank sprayer, R4 and turf tire sets; Husqvarna 21" SP mower/bagger, Billy Goat 12" sod cutter; Kees Power rake; Lesco 19" aerator; Troy-bilt "pony" rear tine tiller, plus Stihl weed wacker, chainsaw, blower...Boy, just thinking about it... that's a lot of stuff! I'm running out of room! Gotta sell some of it before too long...

Hey there 1864 brother, I solved the leaf problem a different way. I moved from one acre of woods to one acre without trees!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
