Default 1641 Carb Issues
Turned the key and no clicking in the carb and I realize now that the solenoid is stuck. The mower has been sitting a while but I use non ethanol fuel and it doesn't look too bad.
I drained/replaced all of the fuel, cleaned the float, needles and everything I can get at.

Any advice on getting the solenoid to engage?

edit: I just noticed a similar post and will plan to let it soak in carb cleaer and I have ordered a 807723. Any other thoughts on what I may do in the interim are appreciated.

Do you have 12 volts going to it when you turn the key on?

My 1641 did the same thing a couple years ago. I pulled the fuel shut off solenoid out and cut the plunger off. Haven't had an issue with it since. I didn't have the time to get another solenoid because of a snowstorm and being my only snow removal machine I had no other choice. Never bothered getting another one because I have seen no difference in the operation of it.

What Kelly said. Or you can get fancy and buy the OEM plug that Briggs sells.
