This reminds me of when the neighbor bought a brand new Cub Cadet several years back, trying to convince me to get rid of my old 72 and enjoy the benefits the new ones have.
His took a dump 2 years later, and my ol' cub is still chug'n away.
And by the way, howdy everybody!

I shouldn't say anything bad since I sold my 2182 and bought an XT1. I know they aren't the same machine, but the 2182 was way overkill for my yard. I bought it with 17 hours on it at the beginning of last summer, so this is my second summer with it and I'm up to a whopping 25 hours! Even if I mow a lot, I might put 20 hours on a year, so if this thing lasts to 200 hours, that's 9 years for me and I'd be happy with that! As you can tell, I don't expect a lot, I know they are disposable.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
