Default CC 1440 to QA36

Hello.

I apologize if this is a redundant question, but I am a little puzzled. By the parts tree, and my local dealer, a QA 36 snowthrower WILL NOT WORK on the Cyclops model tractors like mine - 1440.

However, from two different sources who claim to own them, they use a 36 or a QA42 on their 1440's. One guy even sent me a picture with it mounted.

So, what is the story? Will it fit and function? Does it need modified to fit and these two guys are conveniently leaving this part out?

Any assistance appreciated.

My guess is they modified the mount to fit and the pulley and belt.

That is correct. Although, it can be done with modification and alterations. to either the tractor, snowthrower, or both.

Thanks, Gentlemen. for reinforcing my thoughts. I have an old QA36 sitting around from a previous trade. I have no use for it but I do need a 450 for my '93 1440 to the best of my knowledge, and they are hard to come by.

I was just wondering if there was some secret knowledge out there that I didn't know about that would miraculously make the 36 function...LOL.

I believe you need a 451 snow thrower for your 1440.

My dad had a QA42 which was originally on his 680, then he used it on the 1863 when he bought that. He did not make modifications to the pulley, always had the large PTO on the tractor going to the small pulley on the blower. I guess that's why the blower through snow 100' at full throttle and why the parts were always breaking. LOL Not sure where you are located at in PA but there is a really nice 451 for sale in Bellfonte right now for just $350. They aren't too hard to find here in PA, just watch FB and CL.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
