Starter Price for 1210
Last week was a rough week for me and the ole 1210. After having the engine oil dipstick blow out twice, which has since been fixed, I thank a kinked breather tube for that one, the starter seems to not engage the engine. When I crank the tractor, I can hear the starter spin but not engage. I am going to tear into it this week and look to see what is happening. If I did have to get a new starter, what would that run me? I saw one online for 200 bucks.

Clean and lube the bendix drive. BTDT Did you check the crankcase breather as I suggested?

HAHA I sure did. I was going to get on and tell you about it but left that next morning on vacation. The breather filter was fine. but somehow there was a kink in the breather tube. Once I got the kink out and placed the end of it properly in the air filter housing again, I had no problems. It is just my luck that the starter started acting up on that same day. I am slowly starting to figure out my way around this machine thanks to you and other here at OCC.

Thanks Sam the mower is fixed and strong as ever. I managed to find a manual on the engine and starter. Wish I would have found that first. I should have followed the manual a little closer. I guess when the manual says hold the cap and the starter together, they really mean hold them together. Took some fan dangling to get the brushes back seated properly but I got it. Thanks again!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
