1872 Hour Meter
I'm trying to determine if my hour meter is working. How long does engine have to run before 1/10th number moves? My first tractor with an hour meter. I have hardly used it since purchase and never paid any attention to meter. Do they just quit working? I am going to sell the tractor, but I do not want to deceive any one. Any help appreciated. Thanks and have a great day.

1/10 of an hour is 6 minutes.

1872 Hour Meter
Thanks Roland. I know that 1/10th of an hour is 6 minutes. Does the 1/10th number gradually move during the six minutes or does it flip to the next number at the end of six minutes? Sorry I did not express myself very well.
It seems they are no longer made. Only option trying to find a good used one? Have a great day. Bob |

I use to have one on my 1450. I replaced it with the Digital type. IIRC, it constantly rolls over, no stepping.

Hey Bob The one on my 1862 flips to the next number every 6 minutes.
There is no gradual movement to it. It will run with just your key on as well and the engine not running. You can more then likely hear it flip over that way as well without sound of the engine. Ken |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
