Nice rescue! There was one near me for sale recently that had an issue with it popping out of gear, and there's one for sale on fb marketplace in NY for $850.
Seems like a good starting point for a pulling machine since the transaxle is the one most people prefer over the earlier style. Do you have plans to save the plastic hood, or go with a custom one? |

Well I did lose the grill, but since the hood and side panels are in good condition yet I'm going to just try to find a good sealed beam style grill cheap and then I'll be golden.

The plan at this point is to find a spindle for the 46GT, since I pulled it off first thing and went straight to figuring it out, it should be fine with a spindle. And after that, just run it. The front wheels are packed with slime, but the rear tires surprisingly have held all the air I put in them a few weeks ago, so new tires and a battery and tractor should be ready to work. I had it ready to start a week ago, just have to make my way down to the shop and throw a battery on it. This machine is at the work shop and not at home, which is being a pain. If I get it running good and like it I'll paint the fender pan.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
