Default 1864 - 25th season

Wow time flies. Going through paperwork I realized my 1864 is celebrating it's 25th anniversary with me and is starting it's 25th mowing season. I never intended to be mowing with a classic Cub Cadet! Purchased in 1997 and here it is today.

Wow, that is pretty darn cool. Obviously going 25 for 25 means it has had
a good home. One that cares for it.

Sure do, still have the original receipt. I keep everything.

Used 1864 SN 842482
New 190-321 46" Deck
New 190-335 Bagger
New 190-398 Bumper
New 190-425A-100 17cu ft utility cart with liner

$5353 with tax, delivery and 1 yr warranty.

Based on the serial number and the B243G2 Mfg Date, I think it was built in 1993. I got it 2/97 with pretty low hours so I don't think it was used too much.

It's been pretty good to me, it only let me sit once and made me push mow my acre.

I have the plastic deck pulley covers and the discharge chute. They are just not installed.

So that figures about $214 a year.

An new one at that cost of 5353, or more. Divided by 6 years with
your fingers crossed, comes out around $882.
I just like doing math.

I like math too when it comes to $214 a year. :-)

Of course that doesn't include maintenance and a few repairs. Now it's getting expensive.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
