Default 123 with Cart

Hi All,

Picked this up last night, it came with the house when they bought back in 1969 they used it up until the fathers passing 5 years ago. The thing that caught my eye on craigslist was the cart, but they said wouldn't separate so I bought everything By the time I got their they said multiple people offered over asking without seeing it, but they honored the price we originally agreed to.

Good:
  • Claims engine was replaced in 80's or 90's, Tag says k301, all the tin is black, I think the 123's were all yellow. So this goes along with his story.
  • Seat has no cracks
  • Wheel weights
  • Deck appears to be solid
  • From what I can tell engine turns a bit
  • Cart number 1??
  • Price- 150 for all the items
  • Snowblower
  • Came with some parts and a manual
  • Did all 123’s come with head lights?

Bad:
  • Don't know the status of the engine or rear end.
  • Wiring needs help
  • Steering is frozen

My plan:
  1. Clean out tins
  2. Change oil
  3. Patch wiring where needed
  4. Put in a battery and try to start it
  5. If engine fires and doesn't smoke I'll go from there. If engine is shot it might just become a parts machine for me. Either way I got my cart.

Also a little bonus I got some garage floor epoxy from them, three kits they had sitting on their shelf they never got around to installing. I need to look into the shelf life of the cans and determine if it is worth putting in the shop, took the risk and bought all of them off of them.

I saw that one. I’m a little far away otherwise you would not have had a chance.
For the price it was a steal. Well done!
Headlights were optional

Competition is always good. The cub is now an additional hour north of you

Thanks! I look forward to putting the cart to use, I need to remove the Hitch ball adapter he put on and possibly paint it.

I got to him earlier I guess. He text me half way through the day, confirming I was serious about coming that evening. When I went to pick it up he said that two people offered him $300 sight unseen after he agreed to a price with me. I expected him to ask me to pay 300. Which is what I would've done if I was the seller, but he didn't

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
