Is there a model number somewhere on the deck?
Hi,
I have a parts company trying to help me with locating a deck for my 129. They asked if there is a model number somewhere on the deck. I'm thinking that if their was it is surely worn off by now. I have no idea what the actual model number is for the deck. |

Should be a tag riveted to the top side. If it's gone, you'll have to look it up on the cub cadet website...

Coop...well, yeah, it is, but unfortunately if there were any numbers immediately close to it I painted over it last year when I did both sides. I don't recall seeing any numbers however - pretty sure I would not have painted over them, which is the reason I didn't want to paint over the tag to begin with. If that's where the numbers usually are, I might be out of luck. IF they'd be engraved or stamped somewhere, might be a way to still find them.

Are you needing a part for your deck or wanting a new one?

Mine has a few areas that are rusted through. The baffles are gone at this point. It has been suggested to put new spindles, etc. in the old deck, but not sure that's the best way to go, so IF I decide to keep my Cub going (many long threads on this...too many actually!) I would want to replace the deck with one that is in much better shape.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
