Default Will start and run, but kills switch problem

I looked and wasnt able to find a wire diagram for my cub cadet super garden tractor 2082.

I put a new engine in it and u turn the key to the crank position and it starts. If u let the switch go back to the on position after starting it it will die. So what I have been doing is turning the key till it starts then real quick turn it to the off position to keep it running.

So it's getting the signal while the switch is cranking but once it starts and allow the key to go to the on position it does.

I'm thinking that I have the coil or regulator wired up wrong.

Thanks in advance for the help
Any thoughts?

What engine did you replace it with?
What wiring did you change?
Impossible to know what might be the issue without that info. If the wiring isn't correct, I strongly suggest parking it until you get it sorted out or you might compound the issue. Wiring diagram is in the chassis service manual, which is in the "Technical Library: Tractors".

It had a kohler magnum 20 I replaced with a Kohler magnum 20.

It was plug and play, I thought it was the switch, but I just put a new one in and same thing.

I'll look in that section the wire diagram.

Something is miss wired. Find the wire going to mag. With key on check for ground. There should not be ground with key on. Then check with key off. There should be ground with key off. I once purchased a keyswitch that was aftermarket but suppose to be for my unit. It was wired backwards from OEM key switch and did exactly what you are describing.

This is opposite of what is suppose to be. During the "OFF" position, the Ignition Switch closes a path to ground, shorting out the Kill Wire from the M-20.

You stated you replace the Ignition Switch. Did you install 725-3163 -----> 925-3163 and is it wired correctly...??

Switch Terminal Legend:

B = Black Wire
R = Red/White Wire
S = Red/Black Wire
L = Blue Wire
M = Yellow Wire
Note: The Switch has to be properly grounded

Please examine and advise.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
