LMAO I just spent well over 300 for rear tires/wheels. I only paid 250 for it when I bought it outright. I know I'll never get what I put into it back, but I have no plans on ever getting rid of it.

You use your tractor year round. It pays for itself unlike those loafers I have in my Cub house!

This tractor was given to me by a neighbor. I used to work at their house on that tractor. They had 2 acres that were meticulously maintained. They had an only child that was killed in a car wreck in his early 20s in the mid 1970s. They treated me and my brother like family.
About 1988 the seat on the 1000 was in really bad shape. Bob brought this seat you see in the picture home. Mr Novak who lived across the street welded it to a plate and the plate to the seat springs. Yes, the seat is small and the springs are on it backwards but I'll never change them. They remind me of these people 30 years later. I was a pall bearer for Mr Novak in the early 1990s. The couple that gave me the 1000 died in the last 5 years. I do miss those days back then. |

I try, but when it's not snowing and the grass ain't growing (currently both of these) it sits in the garage and makes me sad. Sometimes I fire it up to take it for a ride or if I need to move my pop up camper around.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
