Default 2072 trans trouble

I'm working on a 2072 that works great until you work it hard for awhile pulling cat 0 plow, it will lose hyd lift and power steering, the drive power is lower also. It has Hy-tran and a new NAPA filter no change. Could it have a bad pressure relief valve? After it sits and cools down everything works good. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Is the fan still on the driveshaft and is the pump clean on the outside so it can cool?

If it's clean and cool, and not whining excessively, I would be looking at the charge pump relief valve. Ignore the non-ported pump pic. The attached image shows the diagram for my thoughts due to your specific symptoms.

Yes it is spotless clean and fan is there. No whining. I wondered about the relief valve but never have had one fail that's why I decided to ask for more input. Now to get time off work to dig into it.

Thanks

Finally got to work on 2072 yesterday. I changed out relief valves with known good ones, and still have the same issues.

Sounds like it is toast. Probably didn't get the oil and filter changed like it should have. Or someone towed it too fast.

Only way to know for sure is to do a pressure check on it when it's cold, and again when it's hot. Too bad there is no port to check drive pressure. But, if the charge pressure is low when it's hot, the charge pump may be bad. Could have a suction leak on the tube or at the charge pump also.

You said new hy-tran and Napa filter. Like IH hy-tran? Or did you just mean new oil? Which Napa filter? 1410, or that other one Napa likes to say is a good cross?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
