Default 782 ignition switch.
Having an issue with the 782 and I've narrowed it down to the ignition switch. All my parts tractors have magneto engines while the 782 has points but after looking online they all look like they use the same ignition. Just wanted to confirm before i switch it out and cause more problems. Thanks

The correct switch for the 782 is the 925-3021.

The switch for the 1811 (which is the 782 w/M18) uses switch 925-3026.

Both switches look the same but function completely different.

NEVER buy parts on the basis that "it looks the same". Buy the parts for the exact function and application.

No not the same, the 782's have a powered (I) terminal to provide the coil with power in "on" ---- "on with lights" , and start positions,-- no power in off position.

Those with magnetos, connect the magneto wire to ground to stop the engine.

And your positions will be: "off"---- "on" with lights--- "on"---- and start positions.
A "WILL FIT" ign switch will give you problems/not work.
Do your homework on the listings

This is why i asked. When i looked it up on partstree they show the same part number being used for both types of ignition which didn't seem right so i figured id better double check. I guess partstree can't be trusted.

I've been mostly working. We have so many tractors in the shop for restoration right now that if people stopped bringing them we probably wouldn't run out of work for 2yrs. I haven't really been messing with cubs other than whats needed to keep them running. I'd like to restore this 782 but its hard to find the time or the drive to really work on it.

Local Cub dealer has the correct switch in stock for $38 which I will pick up later today. Thanks for the help.

Indak was the Vendor that made the switches for IH. I have found it hard to find the R464A Indak Replacements. Thus, you end up buying it from Cub Cadet at a much higher price.
