this thread could be a sticky in the restore section. I am now thingking that I am going to strip down my 100 build and take it to get bead blasted instead of just cleaning up the rusted spots. Goot pics, very nicely done.

The paint I used is Napa Crossfire paint.
White paint code is 53A-3965
Yellow paint is 53A-3857

Uncle Dick has been a fun Cub to run. Unfortunatly the rear axle seal started to leak. The first thing I did was clean the catch pan so I could reuse the oil. I had the rear cover pulled and rear axle pulled before I thought of taking pictures.

I desided to change both seals.

Old seals were easy to pull with this tool:

Pulling seal:

Purchase one seal and rear cover gasket off Chris Westfall.

The other seal was from NAPA.

Tool I used to install seal:

seal installed:

I like to put a little grease on area where the seal and bearing/bushing goes.

C clips installed:

I tip the front of the tractor up so the oil that is left in the rear end drains out.

Sump looks cleaner this time compaired to the first time I opened it up 2 years ago:

Looks like Hy-Tran did it's thing.

I desided to reuse the Hy-Tran. I used a paint filter when I fill my container.

This is what was left after the container was filled:

The trans was refilled and so far no leaks.

Merk, looks good. Did you make that seal installation tool or buy it? Are you taking that tractor to the Ohio Plow Day? Make sure you take lots of pictures for us to enjoy.

The seal install and removal tools were purchase at Sears 15-20 years ago.
I will take the 70 to Ohio Plow Day. My Wife likes to drive it around. The 70 aslo get used to pull tractors back to truck(s)-trailer(s) that quit while plowing. We usually have a gas run or 2 to make out to the field.

Just read this thread after seeing "Uncle Dick" at Red Power last week. I can appreciate the hard work put into it after seeing the finished product. Great job! Even better that you can keep it in the family.
