$1000 for a 73, but needs a $45 batt?
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...code=undefined
OK, I get it. Vintage, nice shape, not thrashed, might even run. But - c'mon man, why not get a batt and run it for that price? Not a buyer here, but I can go look if anyone just gotta have it. |

There was one for sale a while ago around here in similar shape, already running and driving. It was only listed for $350! Maybe someone might pay the full $1000 IF it was a fully rebuilt, fully restored, running and driving machine in PERFECT condition. I've seen a couple fully restored Cubs go for that price around here. But even those had all the bells and whistles. NOT worth it IMHO

It has the wrong seat, a cobbled mounted wide frame 3 point hitch, and the wrong headlights.
You would think a new dash decal was in order also but then it would have been 1200.00 What else is it is only worth what you think it is...

Whew, didn't know it had the other issues pointed out. It's a hard pass. Zoiks. I paid 1/3 for my original running and stopping(needed a few bearings though).

well, bearings are nothing. I have a bunch of random size bearings just laying around, almost as if I collect them
Probably the thing 2nd most replaced solid part on these things. Only thing that beats it has to be the driveshaft pins, they're always breaking on people

Exactly everything I was going to say. It doesn't even have fenders.

If you put a battery in it, then the buyer might notice that it's unable to start or run.

this has become a game of where's waldo - wrong tires obviously in the rear - I believe the fronts are mismatched- one has wear bars the other does not. not only does it have the wrong lug bolts but they are not even a matched set - one is about half an inch longer than the rest.
I dont have a 73 But I cannot believe the PTO lever is correct - at a minimum WAY out of adjustment. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
