Default Got The 782 Running

Today, I had succeeded in getting the 768 to crank and run. This is the first time the 782 has run since my dad died in 1986. It sounded good. The PTO works. I forgot to put screws in the points cover holes, so I had some oil spray.

Thank you to everyone for the advice. I have learned a lot from this forum. I would not have been able to do this without this forum. I am not a mechanic by any means but I like to tinker. I had 3 or 4 service shops that wanted to condemn it.

Now, I need to change the oil and oil filter, buy a points cover and gasket, replace the original tires front and rear, hook up the Z bend for the throttle and choke, get the headlights working, air filter cover, clean and add the hubcaps, etc. I still have trouble with getting the z bend in the hole and adjusting throttle cables.

Thank you again.

Most of us here know how you feel,
you gave it rebirth.
And it was your fathers, that makes it all the better.
We all I'm sure, like happy endings and good stories.
It these troubled times it is nice have some things that end well.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
