LTX1046VT, running issues...
Hello all, I know everyone's aversion to newer LTs but hear me out. I've got this briggs 23 hp vtwin, and I'll be honest, I'm not too familiar with em. I'm used to the single cylinder kohlers.
So this LT kinda comes and goes as far as running condition goes. Today, I ran it around and it really dipped when I hit the PTO....and then it kinda cleared itself up. Also, when its been running for like 20-30 min, it starts popping and sputtering when its at max throttle, but no PTO and stopped. I was attending some youtube university, and found that a lot of people say the briggs vtwins need carb rebuilds because the orings degrade over time and let too much fuel in sometimes. Also found that the coils on these will fail on one side. I've pulled the brand new plugs that I put in last week, and the left side has some wear, but it looks like its really not being used. In addition I checked the temps of the valve covers, and the right is running at about 120, and the left at about 88....so I feel like thats a problem, but I dont particularly know what that problem is. So plans are, carb rebuild, valve job, and maybe replace the coils? What do ya'll think? |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
