I feel like my 106 found me. I found it on craigslist for $50, brought it home, got it running with a little help from the 127, then bolted on some goodies. I get what you guys are saying, and I truly think the right machine would have to find me to let it go.

As for the others, well, bye Felisha.

Yes, definitely need a sleeve hitch or 3 pt. Having a machine with the exception of one part made up of expensive unobtanium isn't what I'm going for at all, although the power steering on the 3000 series sure sounds nice, as does the locker. I'm not cutting grass with it, strictly using ground engaging equipment and plowing snow. The last thing I need to do is to trade equipment that gets the job done for equipment that'll get it done if I had a couple $500-2500 plus custom made genuine custom made accessories. It would certainly be nice to keep my #1 tiller, wide frame plow, and sleeve hitch accessories.

Cooperino, something like that cyclops you just picked up could absolutely follow me home and I'd be one happy camper.

782 sounds awesome, mostly because I like red. TractorData tells me the 782 has a wet brake and the 1864 has dual discs. Were turning brakes an option on either of these? Is there any machine out there that a pair of pedals would be a relatively simple bolt on accessory at some point?

Turning brakes weren't an option on either of those, I think they were optional only on the Supers.

It is a doable conversion, I'd think the 1864 would be easier just because it has discs to begin with. Discs on a 782 would take more work but I'd think it would be possible as well.

The 64 gets you power steering and a Command engine. 3pts were available options, and I believe can still be purchased aftermarket.

My main horse is a red 782, that I put a Command in last summer. I also tried to snag an 1864 to replace my 1861 about 3 weeks ago. It didn't sell but I lost the guy's contact info. I keep hoping he relists it here soon. The 782 and 1864 are considered some of the finest Cubs.

Turning brakes were an option on the 982(also front remotes) and both were standard on all the supers after that.

Lots of people have put turning brakes on GT's. Here is a link that may help. Go to the Projects tab.

Do they have a tighter turning radius than the 149? I do understand that power will make it easier to steer, but does the power steering have a tighter turning radius?

At present, I'm in a very tight space. every inch helps.

I don't need a Lincoln, but a Mercury sure would be nice. Right now I feel like I've got old worn out Fords with 3 on the tree.

Been seeing a ton of 1440s listed cheap, several others ending in 41 for a wee bit more, but knowing that I could just be bringing home another POS won't make anyone else happy.

Default Just one?

Don't know what you are looking to spend but this one in the link or a similar one would not disappoint you. 25 hp Kohler Vtwin, differential lock, auxiliary hydro port, 54" shaft driven deck, made between 2005-2010, and a $6700.00 tractor new.

Without a rear lift, yes, it would be incredibly disappointing.

Looking more at 3000 series, is it a completely different PTO? Can a 3000 series run my #1 tiller, or will I have to spend months tracking down a new one for $1200 and still not having a sleeve hitch or 3 point.

Sure does look like a damn nice machine, though.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
