100 needs an engine
Well, now it needs an engine. I let the son-in-law use it, and he never checked the oil. It broke a rod.

That’s a shame willy. The question is though did you only let him use it once and it threw the rod or did he have it for a while?

Once, he came over to mow my front yard because I have been overloaded with work and firehouse events. He never checked the oil, and according to my wife he was running it a full throttle from the very moment he started it. Oh well, not much I can do about it now.

as long as it wasn't being over revved, that wouldn't have done it. if the governor was working, it would not have over revved. unless he had his fingers in there holding it open.... probably just from normal wear and tear. those tractors aren't exactly new, now a days. |

Not my first rodeo, full throttle extended without load will cause damage, of course the bloody thing is old......but he didn't check the oil and he clearly ran it long and hard......either way, water under the bridge and now she sits till I have time to rebuild or replace.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
