Maybe not want to do to a brand new unit but I would think about doing it on my old one.
I don't think the blower will be as powerful with flap on opposite side from original opening. Probably a significant difference. What I visualize is the impeller turning away from opening rather than towards it. Unless opening place at the top pointing downward.

That might be true. The one i have the impeller is more centered so i thought it might be fine. Others i see are offset. But your right. The opposite side from top would be better. Maybe a duct from top to get it close to the ground.

Rained here most of the day so I made some time to finish this off. After I got the new tire mounted and back on the machine, I made a bushing out of pvc conduit. I ripped it along it's length, chopped it to 10 1/2" and then heated it get it around the blower frame. After I attached the tongue to the bushing with three u-bolts, I added this high tech restraint device so I would be able to quickly switch the blower back to manual mode.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
