The 100 has an engine now. I drove out to Somerset PA to pick one up for $60, the engine last ran two years ago and has good compression. I’ll go over it good and change the oil, make sure the carb is clean, and fire it up in the next day or two.

"new one" 20181022_112357496_iOS.jpg "old one" 20181022_112401913_iOS.jpg This was supposed to be a winter project, but I got a head start on it. Though, it felt like winter yesterday. There was about 2" of snow on the mountain tops going to Somerset yesterday. I guess that counts. 20181021_175618960_iOS.jpg

Yeah Steve, but the clutch bracket should be easy to find, besides who needs a clutch anyway? Gotta take it for a victory lap without the clutch. Victory laps are always fun around the yard once you hear it fire for the first time!!! I like when one of the PO has repainted everything on the cub, because that is often enough to prevent them from rusting out if they are kept outside.
Glad to hear that a great deal was made by two friends and fellow members. Looks like both are happy and excited about what they got in the deal. Let the fun begin! Cub Cadet 123

Thanks, if I need to I might do that. It’s just the U bracket that mounts to the dash tower. I think I probably can make something to work.
I bolted the engine down and put a battery on it and pulled the switch on the side and pushed the starter button and she cranks. I think these starter generator engines are cool, it sounds like the engine is running but it’s not. I just need to get the carb back on it and it will run for real.

Getting them to idle about the same speed as the cranking speed is fun. Sounds like you'll have it going in no time.
Keep those whiskas out of the gennie belt fo sho!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
