All Cubs (especially the older ones) are great but it depends on what you want to do with it.
Yeah, but according to your sig, you have 13 + parts tractors. You could get rid of a 1/2 dozen & none-the-wiser. I only want one! But.....I like your style!

Welcome aboard. You know a good machine when you don't have one! I figure whatever you are mowing with now, which isn't a Cub Cadet.....break it for a good excuse to buy something decent!

I mow with a zero turn. If I can help it, I'll never mow with a regular tractor again. I just want a Cub Cadet because they are.....well you all know. That is why there are so many great web sites dedicated to them.

It's a Cub thing! Wife doesn't get it!

Find somebody selling two of them. Come home telling about them being buy one, get one half price, and then explain about how much money you saved by buying both of them. At least that's how it works with shoes, or pocketbooks, or bathing suits, or....................you get the point.

I'd just go buy one without asking, its better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

I am going to be 50 on Saturday. Been very happily married 23 years. I read these posts to her hoping to soften her up a bit. (You remember... when you were a kid...."But mom, everybody has one!")

Well, I don't think it is working. She is all of a sudden taking a big interest in the divorce lawyer ads on TV!

Naaaaaaa....she still loves me!

But I think I am wearing her down.....I am trying subliminal! Every other conversation I have with her, I casually slip in "cub cadet" or "IH" in the middle of a sentence!!!

I aint no dummy!

Good luck convincing the wife how much you really need a Cub. I lucked out and had both of my Cubs given to me by my dad and brother so there was no convincing required.

The teaser spring is still a available from Cub Cadet. I bought a couple of them earlier this year. The loose shifter is an easy fix if you have access to a welder. There is a cup welded to the shifter lever that breaks loose.

For what it's worth, I bought mine and brought it home without saying a word to my wife before hand. When I got home, I told her that I bought a tractor. Of course she was mad that I had made such a purchase without her input. When she actually saw it and realised that it was a garden tractor (and cost less than $300) she wasn't mad anymore. Something to be said for "shock value."

All jokes aside, hopefully you can get her blessing and join the Cub Club.

Cool

Welcome aboard! These garden tractors just rock, and are built very good. The time and effort you take to "restore", or simply bring back from the dead is very rewarding. I have been around for awhile, and the folks you meet, deal with, and associate with is a pretty fun adventure in itself! Many of them have helped me with this model 72 I repainted and rebuilt.

By the way, their no fun to stand back and look at! This one keeps the drive cleared of snow during the season. Unlike your zero turn, these garden tractors are very versatile!

Well, good luck !

Thanks for the welcome, and really nice Cub!

Right now all I can do is stand back & look. I really like the 7hp ones! Don't know why, I just do. I come from the school of "no replacement for displacement", but there is something about an old school 7hp that can out work a 24hp modern tractor!

Not that I would turn away a K241 or a 301!

I'll get one...just going to take the right moment.

Our anniversary is in Sept. Think I should buy HER one?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
