Smile thanks guys

I appreciate the welcome back. Yeah it's bin awhile, but y'know, if you don't have the machine you kind of lose focus on a forum. Ok,.....I don't have it yet but I have certain dibs on it. Then Brian Sell tells me that they have the same transmission as the bigger tractors, tells me that they are pretty well unbreakable with the relatively small engines up front. This one will be rebuilt/restored, but will be a shiny "new worker" with lawn responsibilities (If I find a lawn deck) and plowing match responsibilities (if I find a plow). I also need to find front wheels and tires, as wheelbarrow tires seem a bit odd.
I'm pumped now. the farmboy is alive and well in this 58-yr-old!

Well young man {58} Even old men like me {59} enjoy cubs........
When you bring home a piece of history that you neighbors and friends
laugh at and tell you "you're nuts" , and you take it the garage and close the doors and disassemble it, fix what's broke , replace what you can't
paint it up reassemble ,new fluids. then when you turn the key and it
fires up and sounds so good it's like breathing life into a new creature.
Then you drive it outside , drive it around the block , the neighbors
shout .wow where did you get that , don't even look just drive it home
and put it to work .....That and grandkids make you young again !

Default now I'm really pumped!!

That amazing quality literature in (Lew's) post makes my chest heave with pride----and,...I don't even own it yet. ButIwill!!. I remember just after I bought my beloved 60-B 4x4 sterpside shortbox, which is such a very good shape vehicle, someone in a brand new tundra positioned himself ahead of me at the pumps, sloping grade, and my truck was chugging backwards trying to hold it's weight by compression, losing battle! he got out of his truck and kinda laughed, and quipped, "time for an upgrade, I see." I thought about 5 sec. and answered, "no, I'm pretty happy just like it is, and don't feel like downgradin' just yet". we both carried on pumping gas quietly, but I was proud inside! dunno,'bout him?

you bet I'll send pictures! payday is coming up.I'll bring er home! Manfred

This seems to be a very good place to pre discover all the possibilities within the lineup over the years. obviously several models and lineups varied over the years. The more I look, the more I want to get me one of them. Manfred.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
