Yeah just get the appropriate tractor for the job. It's my opinion that it's wrong to hack up an old IH cub cadet especially if original and complete with dealer decals. Solid advice given already. The 10 hp Kohlers in my 100 and 102 make for great plow tractors. The 12 and 14 hps are great also, although I wasn't too impressed with a tiller behind them, they would bog down. Put a no 2 tiller behind the 782 with opposed cylinder 17 hp Kohler series II and never looked back. Has faithfully tilled all sorts of different soils and never complained. Just get a tractor to do one job so no swapping of implements and save one at a time in the process

At least there is no BS info here. Straight to the point and no sugar coating anything, I like it. We will see what comes available for a decent price and ride it till the end.

Although I do say it fits very nice in there, not a hack job at all in spite of the speculation. Had to move the swing arm 4" back and 4" down to make it all level and fit without hitting the seat. Went from a 2" pipe to a 4" wide tube.

Yeah, you've shown those pics on here like 3 times. Again.... not talking about a golf cart. Hell, in that big an area I could get a pretty big motorcycle or 4-wheeler engine to fit. You did a nice job man, you really did. BUT, no drive shaft to align, no PTO to align..... not really that difficult an install. Again... I'm not making fun, or chastising, but a tractor is a lot different than a golf cart.

This thread really needs moved to the General Talk section, since this is all only speculation and not specific to any motor or tractor. I can't do that anymore..... (move threads).

The mods I'm talking about work good on a 12 or 14 horse power too. Main reason why I did the engine mods is the K241 had a 2 piece cam with no compression release.

I have a 128 with a #2 tiller on it. The 12 horse power engine has plenty of power to do the job. I moldboard plow in the fall and till in the spring.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
