353 45" 3000 series snowblower skids
Bought these new skids for my 3000 series blower. They are Robalon skids and are lightweight and this is the description on Small Engine Parts Warehouse site.
" Robalon replacement snowblower skid shoes are salt, age and wear resistant. Robalon lasts 2-5 times longer than painted steel, and 3-4 times longer than stainless steel or injected molded plastics. They have been factory wear tested for proven long life. No marking on concrete. Will not scratch pavers or exposed aggregate. " Time will tell how well they perform and how long they will last. I have 800 ft gravel driveway. |

You would think they would make them with more meat so the holes are not close to the wear edges.
I see they make moldboards for plows also.

Google search for Robalon material.
ROBALON® – sliding and wearing plastics for industrial use ROBALON is a highly wear-resistant UHMW-PE-based material. Robalon can be modified in various ways in terms of sliding behavior and chemical and UV stability. We produce ROBALON on sinter presses in panel form at our plant in Oepping. These panels are refined on profile milling machines and CNC milling machines and lathes. Characteristics: Very high wear resistance, low coefficient of sliding friction, very high impact strength, low density, virtually no moisture absorption, limited weldability, resistance to exceptionally strong impacts, outstanding chemical resistance, self-lubricating characteristics, good stress crack resistance, can be used to a temperature limit of -200°C Very good resistance to acids, bases, alcohol, aldehydes, organic solvents, and grease Limited resistance (swelling) to some hydrocarbons No resistance to strong oxidants such as fuming sulfuric acids, concentrated nitric acids, nitrosulfuric acids, chromosulfuric acids and halogens, and some cleaning agents. Risk of formation of stress cracks. Typical ROBALON applications: Chain and belt guides, curved guides, slide parts, linings, sprockets for snow groomers, Wearing plates for vibrators and rammers, bushings |

How are these working out.
Are they wide enough to keep the cutting edge out of the gravel? How are they wearing? |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
