Default First Cub in OH, model 86

Hello, after years of wanting I bought my first vintage Cub Cadet. The "little" model 86 wasn't on my radar, but I found one listed at a good price. Went to look and it was surprisingly clean. Little rust, no sign of oil leaks, complete, no bubba'd screws or obvious signs of it being apart.
I was hoping to get some info on maintenance items to check over before I do much with it. Are there any weak areas I should expect to have to deal with? Any recommendations on spare parts to keep on hand?
Seems impressively beasty for only 8hp, I'm excited to have it around.
Thx, Zack

I agree, doesn't look like an 8hp engine in there. That would be a real shame to since the 86 is a rare one.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
