Default 450 blower on an 1811

Guys, I need help. I'm no Einstein, but I'm not an idiot either. I've had 3 Cubs, and had blowers on the first two....one was an 1863, the other was a 2150. I never had the blower on my 1811 until now even though I've owned it for 8 years. I normally use a utility tractor with a FEL for snow removal. Well, the utility tractor wouldn't start the other day, and with 18" of fresh white stuff on the ground, I thought I'd try the blower. Something is not right with this setup.....see pics. Auger is running the wrong direction, its pushing the snow away rather than pulling it in.

Do you have a manual to install it?

I just found and downloaded one online. Is the tensioner pulley on the right or left side when seated on the machine? Diagram makes it look like it is on the left, but mine is on the right. I'm starting to wonder if someone put this thing together wrong when it was originally purchased.

It is on the right. Look more closely at the manual. You may have one that has the wrong gearbox on it.

One other thing to check (that I have seen before) is, when someone reassembles the 1st stage auger, they mix up the left and right augers, or put them on backwards. This makes the 2nd stage impeller run correctly, and the augers push snow away from the impeller while in operation.

good to know, thanks B440. darkminion_17, My 2nd stage fan does spin the opposite direction from the large pulley, so it's the right gearbox. One other thing, I spoke with the previous owner earlier today, lucky dog is at his winter house in FL. He only used the blower 1 time, on a 3-4" snow snow. I have a vidja of it running from this morning, hopefully I can figure out how to post it here.

Yup, remove the augers and swap them. Looks like it's spinning correctly but the augers are moving the snow away from the impeller.

Thanks for your help B440? I'll be removing the augers and swapping them. I think while I'm in there I'm gonna pull the gearbox apart and clean it up, that way I can see what kind of shape the internals are in. New gasket, fresh oil.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
