Heel/Toe vs Two Pedal Control
For those that use either, or especially if you have experience with both, I'm looking for the pro's and con's of both. This will be almost exclusively related to using a FEL. And I will retain the dash hand control with either choice. The two pedal is more work to build, but not enough difference to have that affect the decision. Thanks.
For a hydrostat, of course. |

Most of the 2 pedal setups are on a common rockshaft. This is a 2000 series cub.

What's FEL? spelling error, or does that mean something?
I have used both. I have used the 2000 series shown above. 3000 series with two peddles side by side. And CaseIH Farmall 35 with a nice cast iron treadle style peddle. My least favorite is the 2000 series. The treadle style is really nice for changing direction. The operator can modulate the hydro to drive and mow into tight corners and seamlessly change direction to back out. That's the advantage of one peddle. with two peddles you have to stop and move your foot. It's not as smooth.

Thanks, hard to keep track of all the TLA's = Three letter acronyms
I'd use the single peddle treadle style design. If you want to drive into a pile of gravel and scoop and change directions all smoothly and simultaneously it's the best. Assuming your leg and knee and ankle joints are good you can smoothly rock your foot and change your motion. Two separate peddles require full stop and pivoting or lifting and moving your foot to the other directional peddle. It comes down to what ever you like best and will work for you.

I like it. Keep what you got and modify over time as you learn more about what you do and don't like about it.

I recommend you take a look at the hydro peddle on a Cub Cadet SLT1554 and CaseIH farmall 35. Haven't found a good photo to share yet. I"m looking through tractor house.com now to see if I can find one.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
