Default Hello from PA

Hello, New guy here from PA. Just bought a 1650 to get running and hopefully someday fully restore. Always wanted one of these old Garden tractors that were robust enough to add attachments and such to. I am a Welder by trade, but have been a Production Supervisor for the past 30 years or so. Still tinker with welding in my garage at home, which I'm sure will help me with the restoration and my desire to fabricate some of my own attachments such as a FEL. Anyway, I look forward to the learning process and have started some reading. The guy I bought this 1650 from said "it ran last year , but now it won't get a spark" ......so I guess it's time to crank up the tunes and get started in the garage!!

Thanks everyone. Well, I got my 1650 running now at least. Had to replace coil, and also replaced condenser and points while i was at it. I do have a rap in the engine which i was planning on rebuilding anyway, and had to replace a hydraulic hose. Seems like the hydrostatic drive works ok, but not really smooth, so there may be work needed there. I'll be asking questions in the appropriate forums....but wanted to say thanks for the warm welcome

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
