Default Hi there!!!

I'm Matt,

I am from Ida MI. My first IH built Cub Cadet is a 1650 that I picked up pretty clean. I added the rear hitch pieces and built a sleeve hitch for it. In the six months I've had it, it's had it's fair share of tlc, mostly gaskets and seals on the hydro pump and rear end. I put a set of true power ags on the rear, loaded with beet juice.

I have also picked up a few implements for it. A QA42A snow thrower that needs a little love. A 1A tiller that needs a lot of love! A 10" single bottom that I have used a bit already and a cultivator. Just this weekend I finished fabricating a sleeve hitch mounted bucket, which I plan on adding some pictures of when I figure out how!

Matt.
You'll find a wealth of knowledge here, and some pretty good folks.
Good looking 1650...

Thank you George!

Yes, he's a simplicity dealer, I believe. He'll take just about anything on a trade and try to flip it. Good place to find parts, though it's always a crapshoot. He's on Lewis just north of Ida center.

Where abouts in Michigan are you George?

oh about 12 mi. west of cabelas place, give or take a days ride.
I'm remembering back in the 60's, useta could buy any trade-in power mower sitting in front of IDA Hwd for $15.00 or riders for $25. as-is.
That simplicity dealer useta let a lot of mowers sit for years outside in the weather till trees grew up threw them and still ask top dollar.

Then he scrapped most of them when scrap prices skyrocketed a few years back.
I ain't been there since.

Oh, you are very close as far as internet forums are concerned! We're in the same county. I don't think the fellow scrapped those tractors of his own free will, the township forced him to clean up the property. From what I understand, the pile of mowers around his mother's house just around the corner made the dealership look clean.

My 1650 came from a fellow close to you, over on Milwaukee Rd. His name is Wade.

Did you make it to the Southeast Michigan antique tractor anand engine show in Newport a couple of weeks ago?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
