Default Cub Cadet 1250 coil

replacing a coil on a 1250 with Kohler engine in an attempt to get it to run. need to know if I buy (NAPA) coil with an internal resistor or is there a rresistor on the engine. could also use a source for an electrical diagram for the Kohler engine that might show a resistor. thanks, ron

No external resistor.
Takes a 3.5-4 ohm coil. IT DOES MATTER. Make sure you buy the correct coil.

At NAPA I recommend an IC64 or an IC64SB coil. Resistance is 3.8 to 4.2 ohms. The IC64SB will likely be less expensive as it is their consumer line and probably imported. The IC64 will be their top of the line.

They may also offer up a 7-01634 in their small engine parts line. It comes from Prime Line. Probably a repackaged something.

Default Resurrecting a thread (not a coil)

Bringing this one back from a bit of sleep. NAPA says that the IC64 has been "superseded" by the IC14 - might I get a second on that one?
Thanks!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
