Default New Cub Cadet 126 owner

I picked up a model 126 for $230.00, runs smooth and mowing deck cuts very well. The steering is a sloppy, other than a little fresh paint, and minor pieces missing I can't find anything wrong. I am amazed at how well this tractor is built compared to the modern-day lawnmowers.

Congrats on your new to you cub and welcome. You might be happy to learn that the model you have is 3rd on the rare list.

Does it have any options like lights, creeper, or hydraulic lift?

Tons of info here and a lot of knowledge as well.

Here's the manual for you to read up on if you want

Here's a related thread for a steering column rebuild but there are many more just do a search. http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=4631You will also need to look at the condition of the tie rod ends, spindles, and c channel area for fixing your sloppy steering. Again there are many threads about all of this. Good luck with it and you'll find out that you will start wanting more of these things as time goes on, it's inevitable. Oh, and let's see some pics when you can!

Thanks for the information, this one is pretty plain.
No hydraulics or accessories, besides the mowing deck.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
