What is this?
Ok guys what is this supposed to be? It’s on my 1812 18hp magnum. It’s leaking oil out the top of it and right good amount as it’s the only place I can find a leak. A couple weeks ago I got in a situation where I had to ham down hard on the brakes and then slam wide open forward on a good incline with a trailer hooked to me. Sheared the spring pin at the hydro pump. Got that all apart and back together then I noticed this leaking. Looked all over the internet but can’t find anything, hard to do when you don’t know what to call it! Lol!

Thanks guys. Well I thought that’s what the problem is but I think the seal behind the pto is leaking. It starts vibrating at wot. I replaced the drive shaft last week and the bearings seemed to be good. After all tightened up its solid but when you crank it it’s out of balance pretty bad. I’ll have to put everything back new on driveshaft and tear down the front and see what seal is leaking. Hopefully there’s no engine damage.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
