My Pumpkin Patch
I think I have mentioned this before, but I grow Giant Pumpkins in the summer, in fact I grew the Oklahoma State Record last year 685 lbs.:biggrin2.gif:
Well I have 4 plants in this year. I had to build a fence to keep the chickens out of the patch and I have my water system set back up. In the 3rd picture is my Compost Tea Brewer, i make my own fertilizer for it.

That's interesting. Will 4 plants eventually fill that entire area?

The patch is 1250 sqft, that is really only enough for about 3 plants. Each plant needs 300-500 sqft each. I plan to lose one or two on them. Each plant will only be allowed to grow one fruit, so hopefully I will have one for the St Fair, and one for the Weight-off. My goal this year is 1000 lbs.

A little update on my plants, the 2 on the left are at about 13' now, and the 2 on the right are at about 9' now. When they get to around 20' I will terminate the vines. I hope to have several pumpkins on the vines by then.

I have a plant down so I'm down to 3, but that plant had a triple vine and I wasn't sure it was going to make it. This just leaves more for the others now.

Well it's time for an update. 2 of my plants are almost all the way across. The 3 remaining plants have little pumpkins at about 13' from the stump. That's just about where you where them. The second picture shows a little pumpkin on plant #4.
I should be ready to pollinate in a week or two.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
