The first time I push the starter button..........nothing. The only thing I didn't check was the starter. I removed the belt from the starter and pushed the starter button....had a click in the voltage regulator. Let's try this one more time...electric flash came out the back of the starter and it spun. Reconnected the belt and the 70 came to life!!!
My Wife and I drove it around the yard for 30 minutes. Here are a few pictures of the 70 now: ![]() ![]() ![]() I still have some fine tuning to do to the steering, clutch and brakes. It's been a fun project to do. Thanks to everyone for the complements. I hope everyone enjoyed the restoration. |

Great job Merk. I swore I would still mow w/ mine after I repainted it. I find myself, now, thinking otherwise. I've got a 149 to mow with and I'll keep my 100 as a toy.
Terrific write up. Ian |

Thanks to everyone for the complements.
The 70 started to earn it's keep today. I had to do a few things at the cementary where my In-Laws are burried. I hook the cart to the 70 and drove it to the cementary and back. 70 ran like a dream. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
